Leadership Arts Institute (LAI) develops the next generation of business and arts leaders and encourages passion for the arts in North Texas.
Program:
A program of Business Council of the Arts, Leadership Arts Institute (LAI) was founded in 1989 at the request of businessman and philanthropist Ray Nasher, to develop the next generation of business and arts leaders and encourage passion for the arts in North Texas. Each year, a limited number of business professionals are selected for LAI. The program provides training in leadership, nonprofit board best practices and knowledge of current critical issues affecting regional cultural institutions in North Texas. The methodology consists of ten seminars led by a expert speakers and an annual project that serves as a practicum. Upon completion of the program, graduates are individually matched to serve on nonprofit boards of directors.

Selection and Time Commitment:
The program consists of ten modules, beginning with a class introduction and bonding session that is based in the performing and visual arts. Classes begin in September and meet once a month on the second Tuesday, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This allows a full academic experience while preserving a section of the workday. Each class is selected from a pool of qualified and culturally diverse candidates. Sessions contain a combination of informational and experiential activities to maximize the value of your participation. Classes are conducted in various arts facilities in the region to provide a comprehensive level of awareness of arts venues.

Tuition:
Tuition is inclusive of all materials, food service, event fees, and one year of membership with the Leadership Arts Alumni Association. All Leadership Arts Institute graduates will be given the opportunity to be placed on an arts and culture board of directors in the region.
$1,050 for BCA member companies before June 1, 2012; $1,200 after June 1.
$1,600 for non-members.
