BCA ADMINISTRATIVE INTERN / VOLUNTEER – SPRING SEMESTER 2012

OVERVIEW: The Spring 2012 Internship / Administrative Volunteer positions begin in January and last for one semester. The work week is a minimum of 9-12 hours with a maximum of 20 hours. This position is a mix of administrative and program-related tasks. All BCA staff share some tasks and commitments.
Interns / Administrative Volunteers will develop:
- An understanding of the agency and how it functions
- A working knowledge of the Arts and Cultural Organizations located in North Texas
- An introduction to the role of business and arts partnerships in North Texas
Activities in which you may participate include:
- Database maintenance and research
- Leadership Arts Institute class sessions
- BCA Member Events and functions
- Website maintenance and social media marketing
- Research studies and/or surveys conducted by BCA
JOB DESCRIPTION: The primary role of this position is to assist in the day-to-day implementation and operation of Business Council for the Arts. The Administrative Intern / Volunteer assists with general office and program-related duties as determined by the Director of Development. Responsibilities include data entry, data management and research, meeting and materials preparation, the ability to work well over the phone, incoming/outgoing mail, and filing.

- Excellent telephone etiquette
- Respect for details; the ability to execute accurately at a high level
- Ability to prioritize and execute project goals within deadlines
- Articulate communication skills – verbal and written
- Desire to learn and grow professionally
- Willingness to be flexible
REQUIREMENTS: General computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Previous database and/or WordPress and social media experience preferred, but not required. Access to reliable transportation is required. The weekly schedule is flexible; however, you must be available between the hours of 9 to 5, Monday through Friday.
